Congratulations to Anglea Ertlschweiger, the 2018 Spirit of Life Awardee!
Angela Ertlschweiger is a wife, mother of two boys – ages 14 and 11 – and triple negative breast cancer survivor. Angela earned an accounting degree from Michigan State University and has more than 25 years of experience working in the finance and accounting field. She is the Director of Finance for accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly, where she’s happily worked for 16 years.
In her free time, she is an active travel baseball mom who loves spending weekends traveling to tournaments to support her son’s team. She also enjoys cooking, working out and spending time at the beach with family and friends.
Due to the success she had with cold capping during chemotherapy, which is a process of cooling the scalp to prevent hair loss, Angela serves as an advocate and resource to future chemo patients who want to know more about this option. Because Angela’s cancer was discovered during a routine annual mammogram and had progressed from clear to stage 3 in the course of just one year, she is very vocal about promoting early detection. She urges all women to stay on top of their annual screenings, even when life gets busy.
Angela is forever grateful to the brilliant and compassionate doctors, nurses and staff at Georgetown Lombardi and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for helping provide a happy ending to her long journey.
Our 2019 Spirit of Life Awardee will be announced in the spring!
